Ok, well besides being a huge Stan Bush fan and trying to cram him conveniently into a post, I love tech toys. Today, Staples had a Bamboo touch tablet CTT460 on sale for $29.99. “Sweet,” I think, “this will be great for drawing in class this semester.”
Got it home, opened it, and wondered where the pen stylus was.
There is no pen.
It’s the CTT460 which is just a touch tablet, not a drawing tablet.
Man, my compulsive shopping really got me on this one.
I spent a good 2 weeks last semester reviewing tablets and checking out Bamboo models. I know that Wacom shows up all over in our labs at school (granted mostly on Macs) but these babies are highly recommended. Too bad I was too excited to make sure I got the right model.
So do I take it back? Hmmm. Well it does fit in a neat little niche spot in front of my PC tower on the corner of my desk, and it is very relaxing so far for when I want to scroll and read. Luckily, they have a really nice interactive tutorial disk which teaches you the gestures.
So the verdict is still out, but I have a hunch this may be a purchase that is 50% me justifying a mistake, and 50% a product growing on me because of the convenience and ease of use.
And here’s some great Stan Bush with a fan made CGI transformers video. Maybe when I get that stylus, I’ll be making these someday too. As the album title says, “Dream the Dream”
